Kate grew up in Surrey, studied printed textiles in Somerset and then went to work in the fashion industry in London as a fabric designer. In 2002 she moved to Swanwick to indulge her passion for sailing at the same time working as a freelance textile designer.
Over the years she’s also begun to work in illustration and is signed to the Illo agency as well as exhibiting her art work in local shows.
Her paintings reflect her background in surface pattern design and her love of bold colour. More recently she has begun to incorporate British wildlife into her compositions, probably as a result of daily dog walks in the local coastal countryside. She is fascinated by our beautiful wild birds and especially loves to paint game such as pheasant and partridge, drawn to their amazing plumage. She works predominantly in gouache as she likes to achieve a flat graphic look and have maximum control over her colour palette.
