Caroline de Rothschild
Caroline de Rothschild (nee Darvall) was born in South Africa, her mother was a fine artist and illustrator and her brother, Francis, was also a brilliant artist, so art is in her DNA. Caroline came to the UK in the late ’70s and worked as a graphic artist in the advertising industry before meeting and marrying Nick de Rothschild.
Caroline now works out of the Old Dairy at Lower Exbury and her recent works now incorporate the clever use of Silver, Gold and Bronze leaf, which she uses to great effect for highlights, sky, snow and water. This gives a magical extra dimension to her pictures, adding reflections or blazing suns in burnished copper skies. There will be a series of these landscapes – broadly based on Exbury Gardens, where she walks every day with her husband and their tribe of fluffy dogs.Click to book a free ticket
